Songs & Sips: Sinful Temptations

I’ve been listening to music a lot lately and noticed that many of the songs in my playlist are hell or devil themed. I thought it would be a great opportunity to showcase some of my favorite songs with drink recipes to sip on while you listen.

This Michelada recipe from Food Geeks and Bloody Mary recipe from Souffle Bombay are delicious and the best part is that you can make them as spicy or mild as your palate will allow. Just remember that it’s not hell if you don’t feel the pain..

One of my favorite songs right now is “Horns” by Bryce Fox
The song has a sexy, eerie tone that gets you pumped for a night full of sinful festivities.

Lyric Sneak Peek
“She got horns like a devil,
Pointed at me and there’s nowhere to run,
From the fire she breathes.”

Black cherry, ginger, rum and…pumpkin puree? Sure, sounds interesting and I like a challenge. Thanks Sparkling Ice!

I found “Hellfire” by Barnes Courtney on Youtube as a recommended song based on the previous songs I’d listened to and I’m so happy that I took a chance on it because I found a new musical artist to love. The chorus where Barns Courtney sings “Hellfirehellfire, take my soul!” makes the perfect chant to sing along to.

Lyric Sneak Peek
“Down in the forest,
With the devil in me,
I’ll remember the looks on their faces,
Through the sycamore trees.”

This Piña Ghoul-ada by The Necro Nom-Nom-Nomicon is made with rum, coconut milk, and pineapple juice. The blogger has a playful way of describing her recipe as being made from ectoplasm rather than coconuts, but coconuts are an acceptable substitute.

“Wicked Ones” by Dorothy is upbeat, fast and fun. It’s a bluesy, drive with the windows down and bob your head to the beat song and many of her other songs have similar tones.

Lyric Sneak Peek
“This night ain’t for the holy man with the holy plan,
For the promise land,
This night we got the evil hand,
And the evil hand gonn’ raise the dead.”

This pomegranate and blackberry beauty by BBC Good Food tastes as amazing as it looks! (Skeleton companion optional)

“Trouble” by CRMNL makes my Halloween heart happy 🖤 Just take a look at the lyrics in the first chorus below!

Lyric Sneak Peek
“Ripped jeans, gold rings,
All black everything,
Creepin’ through the night.
Big girls don’t scream,
Heart like Halloween,
Make me feel alive.”

Potion De Muerto by Drinkwire is a bloody delight if you like Tequila and an unholy terror if Tequila doesn’t like you. It will lie to you and tell you that you’re the only one it desires but it’s lying to you and you’ll drink it anyway because you always do. That’s what insanity is you know, doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome. Best of luck navigating that special hell in the morning!

“Hold Me Down” by Halsey has an rhythm that keeps your fingers tapping.

Lyric Sneak Peek
“I sold my soul to a three-piece,
And he told me I was holy,
He’s got me down on both knees,
But it’s the devil that’s tryna,

Hold me down, hold me down
Sneaking out the back door, make no sound…”

I picked up a bottle of Door County Hallowine last year and I adored the bottle so much that when I finished it off (rather quickly I might add), I filled it with fairy lights and plugged it in as a lamp!

The Hallowine is a sweet apple wine heavily spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s companion Witches Brew is a semi-dry traditional blend of three wines: Syrah, Plum and Strawberry.

“I Don’t Believe in Satan” by Aron Wright has lyrics that are a treat to read through.

Lyric Sneak Peek
“He is ever so patiently waiting,
To sharpen his teeth,
Praying on the blood and having faith in only what they see,
I don’t believe in Satan,
But he believes in me.”

Appropriately named, the Black Devil Martini is the perfect martini if you don’t like Gin. Is it truly a martini then? Not really, but I’ll let it slide because it looks delicious and I hate Gin.

“Walk with the Devil” Karliene Reynolds has gritty, raspy vocals to pull you in and a deep roots beat that makes you want to stay and put it on repeat.

Lyric Sneak Peek:
“I shook hands with the Devil,
Ah this town best be careful,
Cause when you’re already dead,
There’s no rope for your neck,
You’re finally free.”

This post was a lot of fun and I hope you enjoyed it too.  I have many more songs on my playlist and will be making another songs & sips post in the near future, so stay tuned!
